Principal Parameters Analysis of the Double-Elastic-Constrained Flapping Hydrofoil for Tidal Current Energy Extraction

Taking the rigid NACA0012 airfoil as object, key structural parameters of spring–mass system that govern dynamics double-elastic-constrained flapping hydrofoil are numerically studied in this paper. A two-dimensional numerical model, based on CFD software FINE/Marine, is established to investigate influence spring stiffness coefficient, frequency ratio, and damping coefficient motion performance hydrofoil. This study demonstrates when adequately adjusted, power factor exceeding 1.0 has been achieved, corresponding efficiency up 37.8%. Moreover, can start work within a wide range coefficients.
